"Tales from the Trenches of the Comedian Medium"

As I sit here eating my cardboard like Special K, decompressing after a show, I decided to start a blog. Just about every day someone asks me, "How do you do it?" They don't mean talking to the dead--they mean keeping up with my schedule. Let me give you a glimpse inside my day. Typically, I'm up early with the kids getting them fed, backpack packed, and out the door for school. I have two boys, 7 and 9. On most days after dropping them off, I head to my office to read a family or parents who lost a child. If you read of a tragedy in the paper, chances are they find their way to me. I drop everything and do what I can to help a family in the throws of immediate grief. My waiting list for parents is about 2 years, with a special shorter waiting list for the above-mentioned recent tragedies. It gives me great joy to offer these readings at no charge. Some do donate to my cancer foundation, "Seeds of Hope."

After one of these readings, I usually have a client waiting for a hands-on-healing session for cancer. I work with individuals dealing with stage 4 or end-stage cancer. I also see children/babies struggling with severe catastrophic illness. One day I might be in Children's Hospital in Boston, and the next day, a private home. There are days I want to just pull the covers over my head and stay in bed all day, overwhelmed with the amount of people reaching out for help. It weighs heavy on my heart that I can't help them all. Don't get me wrong, I am humbled and honored that word has spread and people have somewhere to turn when their world is coming down around them. I guess I am admitting that I am just human and my cape is tattered and worn.

After a day of grieving or ill clients, I head to school to pick up the kids. The current sport of the week is kickball. We grab a snack and head outside for a rockin' game of street kickball. I cherish every moment with my children. When I am with them, I am just "Mom." They only expect that I make them laugh, patch their wounds and tell them a story before bedtime (in between breaking up a brawl between brothers). Three nights a week I head out to do a "Postcards from Heaven" show. The venues vary....a haunted historic Inn, a bookstore, hotel, restaurant, my office, The World Trade Center, Knights of Columbus, and even a haunted town hall.

I truly enjoy my work but at the end of the day, I'm burnt to a crisp. The shows allow me to do my volunteer work during the day, and still support my family. I do my best to support some local needy families each week with donations, paying their bills, filling their oil tanks and keeping food on the table. It breaks my heart to see hard working people all around me in jeopardy of losing their homes and not being able to buy the basics. Look around you and see if there is someone you might be able to help by cooking a meal, dropping off groceries, or just buying a card to make them smile. Try not to get so busy that you forget to PAY IT FORWARD.

For the last few years, I have fought my calling to assist with missing and murdered children. A few times I've sent an e-mail to the FBI on some high profile cases. If I saw the picture of a missing child, I could tell by looking in their eyes whether or not they have passed. Some would not leave me alone until I contacted their family or authorities. It is so hard for me to write, "I am a psychic medium." I imagined a bunch of guys standing around the computer laughing. I was so very wrong. Because I took a leap of faith (I jumped off a very large cliff and God caught me), I now wear another cape. It is the cape of justice for the children and hope for families suffering unimaginable pain and not knowing. I am working with a group of dedicated, compassionate people (The LPDAM, Licensed Private Detective Association of Massachusetts). They donate their time, effort, heart and soul to finding the children or clues for closure. I am honored they have opened their minds to the possibility of what I can offer. So now, on my days off (ha ha), I am assisting with searches and the plannning process. Soon, I hope to partner with the LPDAM to start a foundation for missing & murdered children. (more on the next blog).

Additionally, as many of you know, I am in the process of writing a book. Finding the time to do so is very challenging but it is my passion and a way for me to unwind. After a show, I am usually up until the early morning hours trying to decompress and ground myself after raising my vibration for 3-4 hours. Soon, I must slow down. My body and soul demand it. My heart fights against it. They say God only gives you what you can handle....so I will keep giving and try my best to balance my busy life.

My wish for you is to slow down, take a look around, notice something today that you've been missing in the rush of life. Maybe it's a song on the radio, the brilliant colors of the leaves falling, taking a breath of fresh air, your child's deep belly laugh. I also ask that you forgive someone today. They don't even have to know! Maybe it's the person who is riding your tail or cut you off (you never know what someone else's challenges are or why they are in such a hurry). Maybe you need to forgive yourself or let go of unwanted guilt. Do something for you and I will try to follow my own advice.

Hugs,
Maureen

GOD BLESS YOU MAUREEN,, I DO NOT KNOW HOW YOU DO IT ALL. TO READ HOW YOUR DAY GOES IS EXHUSTING. I JUST CAN'T IMAGINE HAVING THE STRENGTH. I DO WHAT I CAN TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD BUT YOU AMAZE ME AND GIVE ME ENCOURAGEMENT.
I HAVE WORKED IN A NURSING HOME,RAISED MY TWO SONS,ADOPTED MY NEICES GIRLS WHEN SHE PASSED AWAY. I TRY TO FIGHT FOR JUSTICE IN HER DEATH TO MAKE CHANGES THAT WILL STOP OTHERS FROM SUFFERING THE SAME LOSS OUR FAMILY HAS. STILL IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO ONE OF YOUR DAYS. THE ONE THING THAT FRIGHTENS ME MOST IS THE THOUGHT THAT THERE IS NOTHING MORE AFTER THIS LIFE. I HOLD ON TO YOUR WORDS TO MAKE IT THROUGH EACH DAY. THANK YOU , PLEASE KEEP UP GODS WORK. KAREN

Maureen, I am amazed when I read your blog. How can you do so much and still keep your smile at the end of the day. I do believe that God is with you always because He wants you to help people. This is your mission on this earth ... even helping me so far away in Ottawa, Canada. I pray God to keep you in good health so you can continue doing His will. God bless. Josee

Thank you Maureen for your email with this blog. It's been a year now with his passing and we all still have so many questions. He is still with us always just not in the physical way. I am trying to get the whole family to one of your shows as I feel he wants us to. When I read your blog I couldn' help but feel you were talking to me and telling me to slow down.... I will and will take the time to appreciate the small things in life that end up being so special. Thank you for all you do and I hope to see you soon.

Maureen.....

God has blessed you! Keep up the good work. But as you said, Take you own advice and take time for you. Listen to your body. This is important.
......Don't you wish you could go on forever?
....Your boys sound like they have fun with their fun Mom. I just love children. They can really ground you. Their innocence is so refreshing.

...I am glad you have started a blog. It is a good way to stay in touch with you. Thanks for being you!
May God Keep Blessing You!

Hi Maureen,
I too work with children. It is wonderful that you are able to help parents move forward in their grief process or even more importantly help them find children who they thought might have crossed over. My ten year old son passed almost 15 years ago and I feel his presence every day. Thank you for your important work
Hugs to you
Gail

Maureen - Your blog is terrific -a good way to express the rollercoaster ride you're on. When you feel overwhelmed, remember you are only one person and you are being guided to do exactly what you are doing. What can be better than that? 41 best wishes to you and your family!

Maureen,

WOW, a blog as well as all the rest you do! Thank you for sharing a bit of your journey with us. Your words inspire others to reach out and give back. And I can't help but trust that riches will flow back to you... allowing you to spend more time with your family, and doing the work you're called to. I know the gift of hope and joy you gave our family and friends has rippled out to so many others. I can only imagine the ripples you create in one week alone! You make a real difference, Maureen, and we are all so blessed to know you.

Maureen, you are amazing. Now ask for help!!!
I know you have some people helping with the foundation and the readings but it sounds to me like too much.
We--your fans and friends--love you. Take care of yourself for us--and all those people you'll help in the future--and those two wonderful children of yours.
Ask God to send a few more earth angels to pick up the slack! I'll send a prayer myself...

You are amazing, Maureen.
But I get overwhelmed just reading what you do. We-your fans and friends--love you too much to let you get burned out.
Ask God to send some earthly angels to help with the foundation, the readings and the healings! I'll say a prayer, too.
We need you to take care of yourself.

We were at one of your shows the other night and I just want to thank you for being so gentle with my daughter. My father passed a few years ago and my daughter is still having trouble accepting it. He came through and assured her he was still with her. You were so gentle and caring and I can't thank you enough. I now believe she is on the road to healing.

Thank you for reminding me to stop and count my blessings. You also remind me that the "busyness" of life, while can be exhausting, can also be the joy of our life, if we remember that having things to do is a gift...we are not lonely, we have a purpose and we hopefully continue to grow and learn...you are so inspiring, and I"m excited about your blog!

Dear Maureen,
I recall when my son first became ill, people kept asking me why don't you take time to spend at home. To be quite honest I wanted my life, my families life to continue as normal as possible and not be absorbed by our son's illness, to dwell on something that we did not have control over. I didn't want his illness to absorb who I was, also a wife and a mother to another child. I was also lucky that my job was very flexible with me. My son continued to attend school during his 10 year battle with his illness and during this time he never missed out on any downtime with the family (movie nights), weekend outings or vacation. Other than while in school his caregivers were always, myself, his father or sister and on occassion grandparents or aunts/uncles. I feel that to be a whole person you need other outlets, for you it sounds like family life keeps you strong and of all things that is probably what I miss the most, just the spending time together whether it was waiting for a doctor's appt. or camping together on the beach. So grab onto those times, lock them into your memory and that is what will keep you going or at least that is what has kept me going. Your work is very powerful and has reached out to even the non-believers, giving them "hope & belief". The two words that my family has lived by and to always strive for "Quality of Life".
Thank you Maureen for reminding us - we all need a little prodding now and then.

Hey Maureen, greetings from Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

I still remember my first reading with you like it was yesterday.

My brother-in-law, Brian, whom I had never had an opportunity to meet prior to his passing, came through thanking my wife and I for naming our Son's second name after him. He was so thrilled he was able to get through to us and the validation, as simple as it seemed, could not have been any clearer, demonstrating that you had indeed connected to him.

That was roughly eight years ago and although much has changed (I'm balder now), my journey has taken me from Central Canada to Vancouver Island and on a path of continued enlightenment and self discovery.

A reading I had last week re-affirmed to me one of your comments with respect to my divine purpose.

I am now commited to furthering my own abilities to strive toward helping others.

I thank you for your previous help and guidance and hope this finds you well.

Take care,

Tom

This was sent to me today, Maureen, and I immediately thought of you and what a true angel you are to so many. I hope it's not too long.

Beings of Light
Human Angels
During each of our journeys, there are those inevitable moments when someone comes into our life at precisely the right time and says or does precisely the right thing. Their words or actions may help us perceive ourselves more clearly, remind us that everything will turn out for the best, help us cope, or see us through difficult situations. These people are human angels – individuals designated by the universe to be of service to those in need at specific points in time. Some human angels make a commitment before their births to make a positive contribution to the world at a particular moment. Others were chosen by the universe. All human angels, however, come into our lives when we least expect them and when we can most benefit from their presence.

A few of the human angels we may encounter are in professions where helping others is an everyday occurrence. But most of them are regular people, going about their daily lives until called upon to be in the right place at the right time to bring peace, joy, help, or heal someone when they most need it. You may have met a human angel in the form of a teacher who gave you a piece of advice that touched your soul and influenced your path. The person that momentarily stopped you to say hello on the street, delaying you long enough to avoid an oncoming car or a collision, is also a human angel. They may offer nothing more than a kind word or a smile, but they will offer it when you can draw the most strength and support from their simple action.

You may be a human angel yet not know it. Your fate or intuition may guide you toward other people’s challenging or distressing situations, leading you to infer that you simply have bad luck. But recognizing yourself as a human angel can help you deal with the pain you see and understand that you are there to help and comfort others during their times of need. Human angels give of their inner light to all who need it, coming into our lives and often changing us forever. Their task has its challenges, but it is they that have the power to teach, bring us joy, and comfort us in times of despair.

So curious to know at what point is this "CAPE" of many uses feel like a burden? Not in a negative sense but in the physical sense.. Your first chapters reflect knowing but not aknowledging your ability..Was that more peaceful? I keep many things "I KNOW" quiet. Always reveal close interactions with friends, family, but keep distance to reveal the word "MEDIUM" to those I could share with but PLAY IT SAFE and won't cross my comformt zone. Guilt then overcomes, for this "GIFT" is not being shared.(spirits can still keep coming back and try to break me down) This is inspiration to know balance can be a beautiful thing. Thanks for the rainbow......
